Ghillie is an extremely accomplished cookery book writer with a library of more than 50 books under her belt. She asked me to photograph one of her most recent books, which was all about people who work in or on the sea, with mouthwatering recipes showcasing the incredible produce from Scotland’s waters.

For The Love of Cookery Books
Cookery books are my guilty pleasure. Currently I have over 300 in various rooms of our home – we practically need an extension to house them! I love the photography more than the recipes themselves and it has almost always been the image of a dish that would entice me to cook it, rather than the ingredients.
So far, I’ve only photographed one cookbook – with the incredible Ghillie Başan – but I dream of someone else asking me to work with them because it is such an incredible experience and honour to bring other people’s food to life visually, so they can share it with the world.
Until the call comes though, I’m working on a book of my own, about the food of Skye and the incredible producers and chefs on the island. You can learn more about it here.
